Update about Childcare in the Selby Area

Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services (PELASS) and Limestone School Board wish to thank you for taking the time to complete the survey regarding the child care needs in the Selby area.

There was a significant need identified for a before and after school program.  The next step is to seek interest from service providers.  Limestone School Board will issue an Expression of Interest to area service providers.

If there is an interested service provider, we will continue our planning with a goal of a September 2021 start.

At this time we cannot commit that a program will be offered, but are exploring the viability.  It would be our intent to inform families prior to the end of the school year (June 2021) if a program will be in place for September, to assist you in your child care planning for the 2021/2022 school year.

In addition, there was some interest identified for full day licensed child care for children 0-3.8 years of age.  Further planning will be required to determine feasibility and viability of a full day child care program.  PELASS will include this information in their broader system planning and will continue to look for opportunities to expand the system to meet the needs of families.
